The Lady Cubs went into the game knowing they had already clinched the playoffs as the second seed in the district, and will face Tornillo at Pecos on Friday at 6 p.m.

The game was a chance for the Cubs to measure themselves against potential first round playoff opponent Tornillo, who defeated Kermit 7-5 earlier in the season. The Cubs defeated Kermit 22-11, behind a strong first and third inning.

The last time these two teams faced off the Lady Cubs lost 9-5 at home and knew a win would give them a share of the District 3-3A championship, but a loss would hand Lamesa the outright title. After seven innings the Lady Cubs lost to Lamesa 8-1 and watched the Lady Tornadoes celebrate on their home field and with their fans.
