Read moreTORNILLO – The Cubs baseball team made the six hour drive to Tornillo on Saturday, down 1-0 in a three-game series to the Tornillo Coyotes. The Cubs had the best game of the series against the District 4-3A champions and pushed them to eight innings before losing on a walk-off single, 8-7.

Read moreIt was not the beginning the Brownfield baseball team wanted when it hosted Tornillo in the first game of the Class 3A Bi-District round of playoffs. The two teams agreed to play a home and home best of threegame series, and Brownfield hosted on Thursday night, May 6. After six innings, the Cubs fell 15-2 and trail 1-0 to Tornillo. They will look to even the series on Saturday, May at Tornillo and possibly force a deciding game three later on the same day.

The Cubs, win or lose, knew what their future held with a playoff home and home series against Tornillo this week. For the Cubs’ Saturday, May 1 district home finale it was a chance for them to gain some momentum and confidence before they faced the District 4-3A champions.
Read morePECOS – The Brownfield softball team made a long trip on Friday, April 30 to face the Tornillo Lady Coyotes in the Bi-District round of the Class 3A playoffs. The game was supposed to be a battle between district runner-up and district third place teams, but the Lady Cubs needed only five innings to advance to the Area round. Brownfield defeated Tornillo 10-0 in five innings.
