On Sept. 11, the City of Brownfield and Chief of Police Tony Serbantez were named defendants in a lawsuit following a traffic collision that occurred at the intersection of Alcove Avenue and Marsha Sharp Freeway in Lubbock on Sept. 12, 2018. The plaintiff, Sherry Maddux, filed the lawsuit at the 72nd District Court one day before the statute of limitations was set to expire.
