Meadow prepares for District Homecoming game

After a long drive back home from Happy last week, the Meadow Broncos will have home field advantage this Friday. The Broncos at 0-5 will be looking for their first win of the season against the 1-5 Wellman-Union Wildcats. This Friday’s game between the two cross county rival teams will mark the start of the District season for both the Broncos and the Wildcats. Friday night will also be host to Homecoming activities for Meadow. When asked how Homecoming affects his players, Broncos’ Head Coach Josh Conner told the Brownfield News that Homecoming brings both distractions and excitement to his players. He’s told them to go out and enjoy themselves but not to lose focus. Coach Conner also mentioned that he and his team will be making some adjustments this week both on offense and defense. “We’ve been practicing some things that we haven’t actually shown yet, so we are looking forward to that this week,” Conner said. As for their opponents this week, the Wellman-Union Wildcats, Coach Conner said he told his guys they have to tackle better. “We have to contain,” Conner said. “The Wildcats have a strong run game and we have to be ready for that, we can’t give up.” Kickoff for Friday night’s game is set for 7:30 at Bronco field in Meadow.
