Read moreThe Wildcats beat the Sands Mustangs in the West Texas Youth Football League Championship on Saturday in Wellman. The Wildcats defeated the Mustangs by a score of 34-15. Waylon Worley was selected by the Sands Radio Network as the game’s offensive MVP for his performance. He was said to have “done it all”, leading the team in scoring, and helping the Wildcats win the Championship game. The 8-0 Wildcats team is coached by Jerry Worley, Barrett Brown, Joshua O’Briant and Kelton Coleman. Read moreEvery team in District 1-3A suffered first round losses this past week, but with that the All- District teams were released and this year it was full of Brownfield Cubs. Senior Kaydyn Moore took home the highest honor for the Cubs this year earning the Offensive MVP. Josh Gonzales, Jojo Carrillo, Quavience Busby, Austin Sisson, and Jose Villalvazo round out the 1 st team offense. J.J Martinez, Adriano Mireles, and Pancho Garza were named to the 2 nd team for offense. Defensively the Cubs had Lotan Jimenez, Brandon Anthony, Austin Sisson, and Malik Mason on the 1 st team. Jayden Gonzales, Logan Shrimpton, Zechariah Gonzales, and Brandon Roldan were named to the 2 nd team and JD Vasquez was the 1 st team kicker. The future is bright for this Brownfield Football team as 8 of the 18 kids honored with post season accolades will be returning next year looking to build off what they accomplished here in this 2022 football season. On top of that, of the 38 players listed on this year’s roster Brownfield expects to return 21 of those players. After finishing this year 8-3 and earning second place in district there is a big offseason on the horizon for the football program as they look to take the next step in being successful under Head Coach Aarrhon Flores.
