Brownfield ISD, the City of Brownfield, and Terry County have come together to expand Cub Drive. Work began Monday March 2nd, to expand North Cub Drive from East Stewart to East Cactus Ln. (Oak Grove Elementary). There has never been a permanent road that led across the field between E. Stewart and E. Cactus, however, there will be one soon. For years BISD maintenance, coaches, and other staff had made a small makeshift road in place of an actual surfaced road.

In a scheduled Wellman-Union CISD school board meeting on Monday night, March 2nd, the board voted unanimously to name Wellman-Union’s current secondary principal Ben Prowell as Superintendent of WUCISD. According to state law, when a lone finalist is announced, the school district must wait 21 day before the actual hire.

The Texas Department of State Health Services is taking extra precautions after a Brangus heifer, shown by a student from Miller Grove ISD at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Feb. 11-14 had been assessed with possible rabies exposure. According to the Texas DSHS, a cow in the cattle barn during the stock show developed rabies and was capable of spreading the virus that causes it during those dates. The Brangus heifer was only outside of the barn while being shown and loaded and unloaded for transport.
