Western Peanut Growers Association will host an Ag Issues Conference on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at the Seminole Community Center located at 801 North Main Street in Seminole. Farmers of all commodities, agribusinesses, community leaders and those who are interested in agriculture are invited to attend the lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the conference to begin shortly thereafter.
Read moreIn Monday nights BISD Board Meeting the Trustees heard from each campus’ admin on the progress they have been making since the beginning of the school year. In the fall of 2018 BISD began to implement a new differentiated instruction program for reading and writing called Achieve 3000. Differentiated instruction is modifying instruction to meet each student’s individual needs. Teachers can characterize content, processes, products, or the learning environment, and this helps with short term assessments and adaptive grouping will help the approach to instruction successful. In this program students and classrooms complete activities that are based on grade levels. Students in secondary level grades can also do some of these activities at home.

Read moreThe Brownfield High School Choir had competition on Wednesday March 11th at the Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock. The Treble NV Choir had straight Excellent ratings on stage (2-2-2) and the Tenor Bass NV Choir 1-2-3 on stage. Choir Director Merijane Cargile said, “I am very proud of the growth this year.”
Read moreMarch 12th Brownfield Fire & Rescue was called out to an accident seven mile north of Brownfield on US 62/82. According to the driver of the Dodge mini-van, Joseph Daley of Lubbock, was passing a Ford F-250 dually pulling a trailer, in the left lane of the north bound lanes. Daley said, “As I was passing him, I went a little bit into the median, then over corrected to the right and hit the truck on the back end.” The Ford and trailer both spun together and ended up facing south as did the Dodge. “I felt the hit and wasn’t sure what happened, but was able to keep from flipping.” said the driver of the Ford, Matthew Srevel of New Mexico. According to officials on scene there were no injuries reported.
