It was quite the sight in Terry County when a tornado formed and touched down in a cotton field near Meadow. It captivated the attention of many drivers on highway 62 as about 20 cars stopped to check out the twister. Following the tornado a violent storm hit the area bringing some much-needed rain, with minimal to no damage reported. According to Mesonet’s rainfall data Brownfield received 0.7 inches of rainfall on Tuesday May 24th. Lubbock recieved 1.81 inches of rainfall. The storm was lightning filled and mild hail was even witnessed. Locals say regardless of the shocking tornado and intense storm the rainfall will help quench our dry soil, and help with farming.

With 260 career head coaching wins coach Bailey has the resume to back up the hire. Coach Bailey is coming off his Assistant coaching position with the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens who he helped lead to a 13-1 season. Prior to joining the Flying Queens back before the 2017-18 season, Coach Bailey was with Lubbock Trinity Christian School. With Trinity Christian he served as head coach and assistant athletic director. Brownfield News and Brownfield Online welcome coach Bailey to Wellman-Union.
