Car accident sends two to the hospital

On Wednesday morning the BRMC EMS and Brownfield Fire & Rescue were called out to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of FM 213 and FM 403. According to DPS, the driver of a 2012 red Chevy Cruze, Lena Hildebrand (17) of Terry County failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a 2002 black Lincoln LS driven by Angel Rojas Jr. of Brownfield.

BRMC receives new equipment

Brownfield Regional Medical Center (BRMC) Board of Directors set the new tax rate for 2020-2021 in their meeting on Monday. According to the Terry County Appraisal District, BRMC lost over $105.8 million in taxable property values of which $104 million was in mineral values. This caused a 10.41% decline in overall values from last year.

12th Annual Back To School Bash

South Plains Community Action Association and Terry County’s Back to School Committee hosted their 12th Annual Back to School Bash Event on Friday, August 21 at Coleman Park in Brownfield. This year’s event was somewhat different due to COVID-19 as the backpacks and school supplies were handed out in a drive-thru style, 750 backpacks were given out. Typically Wade Gordon Hairdressing Academy is at the event to give out haircuts, however due to the coronavirus they gave out 400 coupons for free haircuts.

Lois George

Lois George (“Goolie,” to those who know and love her), went to be with her Savior on August 10, 2020, at 1:05 p.m., in Celina, Texas. She celebrated her “100” birthday on June 23, 2020. She is survived by her loving son, Leonard George, and daughter-in-law, Carol, daughter-in-law Glenda George, her sister, Hazel, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie George, sons, Jesse and Gary George, two sisters and four brothers. Lois was born in Red Oak, Texas, but lived most of her adult life in Brownfield. A family graveside service will be held for Mrs. George.
