Terry Co. keeps public defender program

The Terry County Commissioners Court met via Zoom in a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Nov. 23, with a short agenda to get through. After the invocation, pledges, approval of the minutes from the Nov. 9 meeting, and paying the bills the court dove into the two items of business, to approve an interlocal agreement between Terry County and the Regional Public Defender’s Office – Local Government Control (RPDO-LGC) and an approval to submit online records contract to Local Government Solutions (LGS).

Thanksgiving morning fun

Thanksgiving morning fun in Coleman Park. Madyson Horton of Brownfield and Frank and Ida Sumpter of Lamesa took part in the 28th Annual Turkey Trot at Coleman Park. The Turkey Trot is put on by the West Texas Runners Clubs and usually takes place in Lubbock on Thanksgiving Day. Due to COVID-19, this year's trot took place all over the South Plains and Eastern NM. Terry County unemployment dips along with Texas

Texas’ private sector added 136,300 jobs over the month, and the Texas unemployment rate fell to 6.9 percent in October from 8.3 percent in September. The Texas unemployment rate for October 2020 is in line with the National unemployment rate of 6.9 percent.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar Announces Transfer of $2.3 Billion to State Highway and Rainy Day Funds

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he recently completed the transfer of $2.27 billion into the State Highway Fund (SHF) and the Economic Stabilization Fund (ESF; commonly known as the “Rainy Day Fund”). Each fund received more than $1.13 billion, or 50 percent of the total transfer.
