Texas sales tax holiday set to begin Friday, August 6

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar recently released a press release stating this year’s sales tax holiday will begin Friday, August 6. Beginning Friday, shoppers can save on qualified items which will be exempt from sales tax. Items that fall under the exemption are clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks that are sold for less than $100.

On Wednesday morning

On Wednesday morning, Texas Tech’s Masked Rider and Fearless Champion visited with a small group of the Kendrick Memorial Library’s 2021 summer reading program. The visit came at the end of the reading program and was the Masked Rider’s second visit to Coleman Park Amphitheater. This was Fearless Champion’s first visit as rain caused him to not be able to make the trip with the Masked Rider on her first visit. The kids were able to get close and pet Fearless Champion.

BISD board presented with proposed 2021-2022 school district budget

At the recent Brownfield ISD Board of Trustees meeting, Chief Financial Officer Teresa Montemayor gave a workshop on the 2021-2022 proposed budget. She handed each member of the board a 19-page handout that showed the budget for the school district before it is sent to Texas Educational Agency (TEA) and explained the budget as well as answered questions from the board.
