Donnie Ray Wade

Donnie Ray Wade, 80, of Brownfield went to be with the Lord August 11, 2021 in Lubbock. He was born on March 9, 1941 in Spur to Lee and Jessie Rutledge Wade. Donnie graduated from Levelland High School and then went on to get his bachelor’s from Texas Tech in accounting. He worked as a comptroller for Goodpasture’s for most of his working career. He married Nancy Ross on August 29, 1992 in Brownfield. He was a member of the Brownfield First Baptist Church, served on the board for Brownfield Regional Medical Center, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Hospice of Lubbock and was a Big Brother. Donnie was a big supporter of Texas Tech, the American Heart Association, and the Susan G. Komen foundation. He is preceded in death by his parents, and four siblings. Donnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Wade; seven children, Scott Wade and wife, Kami, of Levelland, Jana Royal and husband, Barry, of Levelland, Michael Ross and wife, Sheralyn, of Nogal, NM, Jana Daniel and husband, Loy, of Brownfield, Jeff Ross and wife, Carol, of Lubbock, Mark Ross and partner, Liz Elmquist, of Austin, Joel Ross and wife, Shirlene, of New Braunfels; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Tugwell and husband, Don, of Levelland. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the First Baptist Church Brownfield and Kendrick Memorial Library. A private Celebration of Life was held by the family.

On Wednesday afternoon Brownfield Farmers Coop

On Wednesday afternoon Brownfield Farmers Coop presented Anthony Vera with a certificate and gift of appreciation for a great deed. Vera happened to come across Terry County resident Jimmy Chambers over the weekend who had fallen down while pumping gas at the Coop station. Vera, who was riding by on his bicycle, saw Chambers and immediately ran to his aide. The act of kindness was caught on Brownfield Farmers Coop surveillance video. Chambers is doing well and had the opportunity to thank Vera on Wednesday when he was presented with a Good Samaritan plaque. EPA Finalizes New Label Requirements for Paraquat

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released an interim decision (ID) as part of its registration review of the herbicide paraquat dichloride (paraquat) that was initiated in 2011. With the release of the interim decision EPA will enforce additional mitigation measures it deems necessary to improve safety and prevent accidental ingestion and exposure during handling and application.

BISD Board approves Student Code of Conduct, purchase of new playground equipment

The Brownfield Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Thursday to discuss and consider the upcoming year’s student code of conduct, student handbook, extracurricular student code of conduct, athletic drug alcohol tobacco policy, employee handbook, T-TESS appraisers and calendar, and the purchase of new playground equipment. At the special meeting the board was down two members with Yvonne Rocha and Edgar Rivera absent but had enough members present to call the meeting to order.

T&T Earth Movers

T&T Earth Movers are working on adding soil over the line that goes from the City of Brownfield’s manhole on North Cub Drive to the newly made manhole passed East Ripley Street. The new manholes have passed all the tests and will be covered by dirt, allowing the barricade to be placed next to the new manhole for the new high school.
