The Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation(BIDCorp) held its monthly board meeting which included the monthly financial update, to discuss and approve the 2021-2022 fiscal year budget to be presented to the Brownfield City Council for approval. The Board also received an update on Bailey Toliver RV and on the improvements for the Rialto Theater. Additionally, the Board heard a request from Brownfield ISD Superintendent Chris Smith for a Workforce Development Grant with BISD and Lubbock Economic Development Alliance or LEDA.
Read moreThe Brownfield Board of Trustees met for their monthly regular meeting and received updates on preparations for the new school year which begins August 23. The trustees heard the Superintendent’s Report and the monthly financials and received the first update on athletics for the year. Brownfield Chief Financial Officer Teresa Montemayor presented the 2021-2022 tax rate, budget, and final budget amendments for approval. Originally, the agenda listed a closed session but Superintendent Chris Smith had no new information so it was canceled. Afterward, they heard about the new hirings and Smith told the board at this moment they are able to open school and have a staff ready to go. They are not fully staffed but they are staffed enough that it would not impede the start of school.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar annouced via press release the total revenue for sales tax in July was $3.39 billion. This is a 13.5 percent increase from last year, these numbers come from the sales made in June and are remitted to his office in July.
