But their handlers do, nervously watching from outside the arena. Spectators, eagerly perched on bleachers and chairs, cheer loudly. Then sit up. All hush. And wait. It’s about to begin.

A visitation was held from 10 am to 8 pm on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel. Greyson was born on March 9, 2020, to Catarino Arguellez III and Jennifer Martinez. He was the strongest baby boy. Though he had to fight for two years, he still had a smile that would light up a room. Greyson loved his mom and dad. He enjoyed watching Moana and Trolls 2 and giving side eye to anyone who walked into the room. He was loved by so many. He is held by those who preceded him until his mom and dad can hold him again.
Read moreThe Brownfield Cubs basketball team finished their season 11-18 overall and 8-4 in District 3-3A. The Cubs made the playoffs but fell to Kermit 63-53 in the Bi-District round of the Class 3A playoffs. After the season, three Cubs were selected to All District and one was selected to Honorable Mention. Devin Hines was named Offensive Player of the Year and joining him on the All District were Jojo Carrillo and Malik Mason. Quavience Busby was selected for Honorable Mention. Head Coach Zayne McPherson spoke on his players being selected to the All District team.

Following the season the Broncos had four players selected to the District 7-1A All District team with Paul Franco being named Co-Newcomer of the Year. Joining Franco on the team were Jimmy German, Taylor Caswell, and Wes Woodard. Head Coach Brandon Flores spoke on having his players selected to the All District team.
Read moreABERNATHY – The Brownfield Cubs baseball fell 13-8 to Abernathy on the road on Thursday, March 17th in what was a competitive game from a young Cubs team. The Cubs started Brandon Anthony on the mound where he went four innings allowing four runs on eight hits. He finished with three strikeouts, no walks, and hit a batter once. Jonathan Romero and Ivan Deleon led the team’s offense with two RBIs each. JJ Martinez, Adriano Mireles, Kelvin Gamez, and Anthony all had an RBI. Head Coach Eric Morin spoke on his team’s performance.
Read moreThe Brownfield tennis team competed at the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Regional tournament at San Antonio over the weekend, and finished in eighth place in the state. The Cubs played in the seventh place game against Ingram on Saturday, March 12th and lost 10-1. Before that game they lost 10-2 to Reagan County. On Friday, March 11th Brownfield opened the tournament with a 10-8 win over Jourdanton but fell 10-0 to Wall in the evening. Head Coach Rich Hammons spoke of the experience of playing in the TTCA and finishing in the top 10 with a young squad.
