Junior Lady ‘Cats Mady Horton finished in third place in the two mile Region 1, District 7-1A meet at Lamesa on Thursday. She qualified for the regional meet at Mae Simmons in Lubbock on Nov. 9.

On Monday, the Brownfield football team learned it still had a chance to reach the playoffs and possibly finish the season in third place. If the Cubs defeated Lamesa in their district finale by 15 points or more they would force a three-way tie between Lamesa, Slaton, and themselves for third and fourth place. Brownfield head coach Aarrhon Flores called it a do or die situation for the team and if they did win they would be in the coin flip for third or fourth place.

The Meadow Broncos are gearing up for their final home game of the season. The Broncos will host the 2-6 Whiteface Antelopes Friday. Their opponent, the Antelopes, will be coming off a 66-0 lost against top ranked Borden County. The Broncos, who also suffered a loss at the hands of Borden County in weeks prior, will be coming off a bye week. Broncos Head Coach Josh Conner and the Broncos are feeling well rested and are looking to grab a District win this Friday at home. “We’ve had a diffcult schedule for most of the year,” Coach Conner stated. “I’m really looking forward to these guys coming together as a team at home and playing their best. If the guys can do that, we can get into the win column.” A District win against the Antelopes Friday would be huge for the Broncos. They will need to overcome the struggles of their earlier match ups to do so. Kickoff will be at 7:30 in Meadow on Friday.

After two venue and starting time changes due to the weather, the Brownfield tennis team and Big Spring found dry courts to hold its 4A playoff match. The new location was in Pecos and after a three hour drive and playing in cold weather, the Cubs tennis team lifted the Bi-District championship trophy following a 10-4 win.
