Services for Helen Lucille Clanahan, 74, of Granbury, will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, August 11, 2021. at Plains Cemetery with Rev. Patrick Hamilton officiating. Viewing were held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Helen was born on April 28, 1947, to Leon and Nadine Clanahan in Brownfield. She graduated from Plains High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. She worked for the City of Abilene in Planning and Zoning. Helen enjoyed walking her dog, tending to her flower garden, and was an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboy’s fan. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Nadine Clanahan and a sister, Nancy Clanahan Thorton. Helen is survived by her two sisters, Mary Clanahan of Grandbury, and Bonnie Earnest and husband Eddie of Lubbock; two nephews, Michael Earnest and wife Kellie, and Keith Earnest and wife Stacie; niece, Jennifer Crews and husband David; seven great nieces and nephews and a great-great niece.

They had two sons, Jimmy Ladell Nelson of Brownfield and Terry Lee Nelson of Fort Worth, TX . She leaves behind three grandchildren. Tyler Nelson of Fort Worth, TX, Haelee Nelson of San Antonio, TX, and Garett Nelson of Fort Worth, and family friend Brittany Shrimpton and family, of Brownfield, TX, and Garett Nelson of Fort Worth, TX and Terry and his wife Michele Nelson of Fort Worth, TX. Bess attended Brownfield High School and then attended Draughan’s Business school in Lubbock, TX. After graduation, Bess went to work as a telephone operator for GTE until becoming a stay at home mom with her small children. Bess began to work again in the 70’s as her children grew older and started to work as bank teller and bookkeeper at the Brownfield State Bank for a span of over 30 years. Bess had a passion for God and at the age 13 decided she would walk to the Methodist church close to her home and begin her long relationship with the Lord. Bess was actively involved with taking care of young children in the nursery. She also loved to watch all animals and was particular fond of birds, dogs and cats. Bess was a devout Dallas Cowboy fan thru good times and bad. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Brownfield First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Terry County Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Rosetta is survived by her son, Lawayne Henderson and his wife Sandra; a daughter, Sharon Murphy and her husband Scott, who was Rosetta’s favorite son-in-law, 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.

They were married for 56 years. He farmed in Dawson County and Terry County for many years. Vic graduated from Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School. He was an avid horseman, farrier and true cowboy. He was known as one of the best horse trainers where he trained at Sunland Park Racetrack and Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. He retired from Cooper Natural Resources after 21 years. Vic loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. But most of all he is remembered as a prankster and loved joking around. Barbara Grace Gregg of Brownfield passed away in Lubbock on July 21, 2021. Barbara was born May 21, 1934 in Terry County, near Brownfield, to Will and Hallie Green. She attended school in Gomez and Brownfield. She was a member of the Gomez Baptist Church. She married Delton Gregg in 1951. They were married for 58 years. Shortly after they married, Barby moved with Delton to Georgia and then New Jersey while he was in military training. She worked in a department store for a short time in New Jersey. After Delton returned from his military service in Korea, they began farming in Terry County. Barby was very active in the farming operation. Later she also worked as a bookkeeper for Goodpasture Grain, then she was a rural letter carrier for the Brownfield Post Office. Barby and Delton enjoyed square and round dancing. They were members of the Terry Twirlers for many years. Barby enjoyed working with kids. She was a 4-H leader and taught girls the basics of sewing and cooking. She loved to sew and crochet. She often made afghans, quilts and baby afghans for friends and family. She was an excellent cook and made most things from scratch. She enjoyed making her hot rolls and tiny pecan pies to share. She made and decorated many wedding cakes for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delton, her parents and her brothers, Raymond Green and Bill Green. She is survived by her daughters, Carmin and Greg McWilliams of Levelland and Cindy and Harry Zimmerman of Lubbock; four grandchildren, David McWilliams, Michael and Renee Zimmerman, Andrea and Tim Hammer, and Jayne and Eric Awbrey; six great-grandchildren; Amber, Adam and Amy Awbrey; Ethan Zimmerman and Cole and Ryan Hammer and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. He was born December 3, 1923, to Thomas Isreal Miller and Hettie Burrows Miller in Brownfield, Texas. Lee graduated from Union High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Martha Josephine Sudduth in the Foster Church parsonage on April 14, 1950. Lee farmed in the Union Community and was a member of the Union Baptist Church and then Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield. Lee was active with the Brownfield Senior Citizens and a long time member of the Union School Board. Lee served as commander of the local American Legion and was a member of the VFW. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Hettie Miller, brothers; W.O. Miller, T.O. Miller, and Roy Miller, and sister; Cleo Newsom. Lee is survived by his bride of 71 years, Martha; two sons, Gordon Miller and wife Sharon; Gary Miller and wife Debbi; and a daughter Kathy and husband Cecil, all from Brownfield. Lee had four grandchildren: Angie, Tracy, Doug, and Te’Auna; and four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Zoey, Maverick, and A’Lexxus. On May 5, 1934, Bennie was born to Louis Alvin and Beulah Pearl (Smith) Brown in Brownfield, TX. He attended Wellman Independent School District and was on the first football team of Wellman High. Bennie married his childhood sweetheart, LaDeane Jordan, May 24, 1952. He started his farming career in the Tokio area in 1957. He and his young family then moved to the Brownfield area in 1959, where he continued his lifelong farming career of 45 years. In 2011, Bennie and LaDeane moved to Lubbock to be closer to family and friends, especially their friends at Trinity Church and the Prime Timers class. Bennie’s life can be summarized by his faith, his family and especially his grandchildren, along with gardening and farming. Those were the passions of a life well lived. Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, LaDeane Brown; their children, Candy (Randy) Hall, Terry Brown and Steve (Carolyn) Brown; grandchildren, Russell (Krystal) Hall, Trevor (Lara) Hall, Elizabeth (Lucas) Brown, Andrew (Lindsey) Brown, David (Jackie) Brown, Matthew Brown, Jeremy (Sarah) Brown, and Daniel (Audrey) Brown, fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jordan Brown; sisters, Joy Hargrave and Verna Jo Hargrave; and brother, Robert Brown.
