Services for Helen Lucille Clanahan, 74, of Granbury, will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, August 11, 2021. at Plains Cemetery with Rev. Patrick Hamilton officiating. Viewing were held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Helen was born on April 28, 1947, to Leon and Nadine Clanahan in Brownfield. She graduated from Plains High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. She worked for the City of Abilene in Planning and Zoning. Helen enjoyed walking her dog, tending to her flower garden, and was an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboy’s fan. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Nadine Clanahan and a sister, Nancy Clanahan Thorton. Helen is survived by her two sisters, Mary Clanahan of Grandbury, and Bonnie Earnest and husband Eddie of Lubbock; two nephews, Michael Earnest and wife Kellie, and Keith Earnest and wife Stacie; niece, Jennifer Crews and husband David; seven great nieces and nephews and a great-great niece.

Howard Dean Moorhead, 76, from Wellman passed away from this life on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Graveside services were held at the Terry County Cemetery Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 2 p.m. Howard was born in Brownfield, Texas on November 1, 1944 to Liston “Lick” Otis and Ruby Lee Moorhead. He attended school in Wellman and was a 1963 graduate of Wellman High School. He was a member of the Wellman First Baptist Church. He served for several years on the Wellman ISD school board. He was a farmer in Terry, Yoakum and Gaines counties. He served on the Wellman Co-op Gin Board. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Liston “Lick” Otis and Ruby Lee Moorhead, his brother Johnny Ray Moorhead, and a daughter Bridget Ann Moorhead. Howard is survived by his children; Michael and his wife Susanne Moorhead of Splendora, Leslie and his wife Tammie Moorhead of Wellman, Samantha Moorhead of Abilene, Tabatha Hodges of Willow Park, Tiffany Clark and husband Tim of Weatherford, and Russell Moorhead of Cedar Park. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brandy Mace, Kyle Moorhead, Jessica Shouse, Stetson Hodges, Taylor Hodges, Preston Clark and Parker Clark. He is survived by a great-grandson, Lane Hodges. He is also survived by an aunt and a niece, two nephews, and numerous cousins.

Reyes Lovington Jr. beloved son,sole mate and brother went to his heavenly home on August 3,2021. He was born to Reyes Sr.and Mary Lovington on April 10,1959 in Brownfield Tx. He attended Brownfield schools. Reyes met the love of his life Wendy Michelle Ammons and they were together for 30 years. Reyes is survived by his love Wendy Michelle Ammons of Chico Tx. His father Reyes Sr. and stepmother Mini of Lamesa Tx. His brothers and sisters Norma Valenzuela, Eloisa Lovington and Roghelio Lovington all of Brownfield Tx. Raymond and Ruben Lovington of George West,Tx. Melissa Lovington of Plains,Tx. Maria Garza and David Garza of Dilly,Tx. Abel Nunez and Dehalie Nunez of Lubbock Tx, father-in-law Leon Ammons of Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico,brother-in-law Jeff Ammons and spouse Annette of Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico and several nieces and nephews. Reyes was preceded in death by his mother Mary Nunez,his mother-in-law Nacha Ammons his grandparents Juanita and Pedro Pina,Theressa and Ralph Lovington Sr.,sister Rosalita Castaneda and nephew Juan Sonny Lazo. Charles “G Dad” Edward Oswalt, 65 of Ropesville was born September 5, 1955 in Lubbock to Clarence Eugene Oswalt and Betty Florence Conway-Oswalt. He went to Texas Tech. He married Paula Fleming March 18,1981 in Loop, TX. He was a member of Wolfforth Church of Christ. He worked in pest control for 27 years including pest control at TDCJ prison. He also took care of the livestock at Girls Town, USA. He also was a farmer, working along side his son Clayton. Charles enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. Charles went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 7, 2021.His father preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his memories are his mother: Betty Oswalt, his wife of 40 years: Paula Oswalt, his son: Clayton Oswalt and wife Stephanie, his daughter Katie Guzman and husband Jordan, fourgrandchildren: Clyde, Charlie, Evanie, and Emma, a sister: Barbara Teel and husband Robert, two nieces: Jennifer and Stephanie, four great-nieces and nephews: Marlowe, Todd, Georgia, and Brynn, and his dog, Jake. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the Ropesville Cemetery with Ed Jones officiating. Services are under the care of Wilsons’ Funeral Directors of Wolfforth. The family suggest in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch or to a favorite charity.

She was a member of the Church of the Living God. Rosetta married the love of her life Judson Henderson on December 21, 1946. She is preceded in death by, her husband Judson; a great- great grandchild, Maddox Romero and 12 brothers and sisters. Rosetta is survived by her son, Lawayne Henderson and his wife Sandra; a daughter, Sharon Murphy and her husband Scott, who was Rosetta’s favorite son-in-law, 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and one on the way.

Bessie Nelson, 92, beloved mother and grandmother was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 1, 2021. She entered into this world on December 8, 1928 in Brownfield, TX to Ernest and Helen Newsom Burnett. She wed Raymond Ladell Nelson (Fuzzie) after he returned from WW II. They had two sons, Jimmy Ladell Nelson of Brownfield and Terry Lee Nelson of Fort Worth, TX . She leaves behind three grandchildren. Tyler Nelson of Fort Worth, TX, Haelee Nelson of San Antonio, TX, and Garett Nelson of Fort Worth, and family friend Brittany Shrimpton and family, of Brownfield, TX, and Garett Nelson of Fort Worth, TX and Terry and his wife Michele Nelson of Fort Worth, TX. Bess attended Brownfield High School and then attended Draughan’s Business school in Lubbock, TX. After graduation, Bess went to work as a telephone operator for GTE until becoming a stay at home mom with her small children. Bess began to work again in the 70’s as her children grew older and started to work as bank teller and bookkeeper at the Brownfield State Bank for a span of over 30 years. Bess had a passion for God and at the age 13 decided she would walk to the Methodist church close to her home and begin her long relationship with the Lord. Bess was actively involved with taking care of young children in the nursery. She also loved to watch all animals and was particular fond of birds, dogs and cats. Bess was a devout Dallas Cowboy fan thru good times and bad. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, August 12, 2021, at the Brownfield First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Terry County Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Vic Cornett, 75, of Lamesa will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Vic passed away on July 25, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born May 25, 1946, in Big Spring, Texas to W.H. “Buzz” and Ineta (Shortes) Cornett. He married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Brinkley July 19,1965 in Acuna, Mexico. They were married for 56 years. He farmed in Dawson County and Terry County for many years. Vic graduated from Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School. He was an avid horseman, farrier and true cowboy. He was known as one of the best horse trainers where he trained at Sunland Park Racetrack and Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. He retired from Cooper Natural Resources after 21 years. Vic loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. But most of all he is remembered as a prankster and loved joking around. Vic is survived by his spouse, Shirley Jean Cornett of Lamesa TX.; children, Craig Lynn Cornett of Lamesa, Cyndi Lyn Browne and husband, Alvis of Seagraves, Carla Lyn Tallmon of Ropesville and Stoney Chance Cornett and girlfriend, Macy of Lubbock; sister, Vieta Zeeck and husband, Charles of Lubbock; brother in law, Jerry Brinkley and wife, Christi of Amarillo; grandchildren, Trey Browne and wife, Karol, Tori Estenson and husband, Brad, and Haley Cheyenne Tallmon; and great grandchildren, Cooper Sloan Cornett and Grace Elody Browne; three nephews, Stephen Zeeck and wife, Ann, Michael Zeeck and wife, Ruth, and Kevin Zeeck and wife, Kathy. Miller were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Cargile officiating. Lee went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 9, 2021. He was born December 3, 1923, to Thomas Isreal Miller and Hettie Burrows Miller in Brownfield, Texas. Lee graduated from Union High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Martha Josephine Sudduth in the Foster Church parsonage on April 14, 1950. Lee farmed in the Union Community and was a member of the Union Baptist Church and then Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield. Lee was active with the Brownfield Senior Citizens and a long time member of the Union School Board. Lee served as commander of the local American Legion and was a member of the VFW. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Hettie Miller, brothers; W.O. Miller, T.O. Miller, and Roy Miller, and sister; Cleo Newsom. Lee is survived by his bride of 71 years, Martha; two sons, Gordon Miller and wife Sharon; Gary Miller and wife Debbi; and a daughter Kathy and husband Cecil, all from Brownfield. Lee had four grandchildren: Angie, Tracy, Doug, and Te’Auna; and four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Zoey, Maverick, and A’Lexxus. The family would especially like to thank Texas Home Health Hospice and The Cottage staff for making his final days peaceful.
