Over the weekend, Terry County and parts of West Texas received some much-needed rain and relief from the current drought. The relief came in the form of showers from the North American monsoon, monsoon season begins on June 15 and ends September 30 according to AccuWeather.

The court met and approved the minutes of the last meeting, and took the most important action of the meeting, approved paying the county bills. Read moreLast summer the City of Brownfield was unable to spray the city to help with the mosquito population due to COVID and not having a licensed operator according to Javier Duran, director of Street and Sanitation. The former Publics Work Director and supervisor were the last two licensed operators in the city, and they retired last year. But this year, Duran is working on getting everything done needed to spray for mosquitoes, including getting more licensed operators.

With the new machines, Terry County Joint Elections Administrator Krystal Valentin went to Commissioners Court and presented the commissioners with the Countywide Polling Place Program. Commissioners voted to apply for the program.
