The TWDB stated this is the fifth consecutive week that areas impacted by drought have declines. The data shows that areas affected by the drought have declined by 42 percentage points. Terry County and West Texas fall into the drought persisting portion of the data. West Texas and all of the Western states in the country are currently dealing with a drought, with small portions of the Eastern states. But Terry County has seen some improvement as the drought intensity has improved from a D3 or extreme drought to a D2 or severe drought. Read moreOur Promise Youth Academy is under the watchful eye of Brownfield alum Johnny Trevino as the new executive director. The nonprofit organization is currently at the end of the after-school program, which runs throughout the whole school year. Trevino mentioned they have 30 to 40 kids who are signed up for a small fee of $20 for the entire school year.
