The Terry Co. Commissioners Court held their first meeting of December via Zoom with reports and fireworks on the agenda. After the call to order, invocation, pledges, and reading of the minutes, the court went into their agenda.

Read moreAUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is offering extended office hours at participating driver license (DL) offices across the state, beginning in 2021. Starting Jan. 4, office hours at the designated offices will be expanded to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday. (Current business hours at those offices are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Customers can begin making appointments for these new time slots immediately.

Read moreOn Thursday the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced the A-F ratings would be paused for the 2020-21 school year due to the ongoing disruptions associated with COVID-19. However, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test will proceed for the 2020-21 school year. TEA says it will be used to provide critically important information about individual students learning so teachers and parents can use it to help students grow. There are some school districts that incorporate the STAAR results into teacher evaluations, however, TEA is providing flexibility to allow those districts to remove that element this school year.
