A raging fire was started Thursday March 17th. The fire burned for most of the day on Thursday, filling the air with an odorous thick black smoke. The fire continued to burn overnight and into Friday. The Brownfield Fire Chief also added “really anything can start a fire in dry conditions like this.” Once the cotton burrs were on fire it spread to the large piles of mulch located in a pit near the cemetery. Multiple men and women used heavy equipment such as bulldozers to spread the mulch out, as well as sprayed water in an effort to contain the fire. The NCAA men’s basketball bracket has been released for the public to play its favorite game of guess the National Champion and the Final Four. Millions will fill out one bracket with pure guesses, another with statistics, another from guidance of the experts, and so on. But that is the fun of the NCAA tournament filling out the bracket and seeing what breaks it from Cinderella teams, how close to perfect your bracket can get, and how many brackets do you fill out in an attempt to get bragging rights over your friends. March Madness first round begins this weekend with many having to throw away their brackets after one bad upset decision.
