Read moreIn Monday nights BISD Board Meeting the Trustees heard from each campus’ admin on the progress they have been making since the beginning of the school year. In the fall of 2018 BISD began to implement a new differentiated instruction program for reading and writing called Achieve 3000. Differentiated instruction is modifying instruction to meet each student’s individual needs. Teachers can characterize content, processes, products, or the learning environment, and this helps with short term assessments and adaptive grouping will help the approach to instruction successful. In this program students and classrooms complete activities that are based on grade levels. Students in secondary level grades can also do some of these activities at home.

Burial will follow in the Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of the Brownfield Funeral Home. A Rosary was held from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Brownfield Funeral Home. Tommy passed away on March 9, 2020 in Brownfield. He was born on March 10, 1999 in Lubbock to Roy and Gracie Martinez. Tommy was very loving and kind, always willing to help, big hearted, and a funny person who always made everyone smile and laugh no matter their mood. Tommy loved his grandmothers Carne Guisada and tortillas. Tommy is preceded in death by grandparents, Jesus and Alicia Arguellez; aunt, Diana Arguellez; and uncle, Ruben Garcia. Tommy is survived by his parents, Roy and Gracie Martinez; brothers, Joey Martinez, Nico Martinez and wife Nina; nephews, George and Elliot Martinez; grandparents, Arthur and Jane Perez, Jose and Refugia Martinez, and Ramon and Erma Rivera; aunts and uncles, David and Monica Gonzales, Eric and Lorrie Gonzales, Mario and Tasha Rivera, David and Melissa Mensch, Robert and Rosa Vera, Joe and Nichole Martinez, Rudy and Lisa Banda, and Leroy and Elena Moreno; numerous cousins. Who loved him very much.
