Former BHS Graduate Murdered

The shooting deaths of two individuals in Lubbock on Friday have ties to Brownfield. Around 2:00 a.m. on April 4th, the Lubbock Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the 2100 block of 49th Street in Lubbock. As officers arrived they found four victims who had been shot. Mia Altamirano, 17, and Michael Bean, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene. The two other victims were transported with serious and life threatening injuries to UMC, their names have not been released at this time.

Mixed Signals With COVID Cases

With the COVID-19 virus spreading across the South Plains there have been some issues with the proper authorities not knowing if the confirmed cases are necessarily in certain counties or towns. Hockley County Judge Baldridge recently had a visit with Region 1 Texas Dept. Of State Health Services and one issue that was of concern is how the release of confirmed cases are done. According to Judge Baldridge county judges were told testing would be done through the public health lab. However, now most tests are being done by private labs.

Elsie Frazier December 13, 1927 - April 4, 2020

Elsie Frazier, 92 of Plainview passed away on April 4, 2020. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 1:00pm Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Brownfield Cemetery in Brownfield, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview. Elsie was born on December 13, 1927 to Alvin and May Ellen Lary in Slaton, Texas. She was married to Calvin Frazier January 7, 1946 together they had Two sons: Dale Frazier (Nita) of Plainview; Ronnie Frazier (Erin) of Friendswood, Texas: Two daughters, Cynthia Grubbs (Charles) of Plainview; Connie Rice (Gerry) of Burleson, Texas. Elsie enjoyed cooking, sewing for her family. Her and her husband owned and operated Frazier Grocery and Station in Brownfield until moving to Plainview in 1964. She enjoyed making conversation and loved to sing. She was a member of Church of Christ 9th & Columbia for many years. She will be missed by all who loved her dearly. Elsie is survived by her children, 10 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great-great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 sisters; Gladys Bullard and Edith Frazier; 2 brothers; James Lee and Van Lary.
