This triggered the University Interscholastic League (UIL) to cancel all UIL related events from sports to academics. UIL had, at the beginning of the COVID-19 virus pandemic, postponed the rest of the boys basketball state tournament, along with all other events, in hopes that they would be able to finish at a later date.
