High School Sports Are Back

On Tuesday morning the University Interscholastic League (UIL) came out with their 2020- 2021 UIL Sports and Academic calendar. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, UIL has not really said much in the way of if or when public schools would get to compete in sports and academics. The last time most schools saw a field or a court was in mid- March since UIL had decided to postpone all sanctioned events in the hopes of being able to come back and play, however the coronavirus had the last word on that.

Jeremy Reyna

Jeremy Reyna, 32, beloved Son, Brother and Father, was called to his eternal resting place on Sunday, July 19, 2020. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, July 24, 2020, at Brownfield Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Brownfield Cemetery, Brownfield, TX. There will be two evenings of visitation from 5-6 pm followed by a prayer service from 6-7 pm on Wednesday evening and Thursday evening. Pastors Joe and Irene Martinez of Templo Ebenezer in Welch, TX will be officiating. Online condolences may be left for the family at www. brownfieldfuneralhome.com. Jeremy was born on June 3, 1988, in Levelland, TX, born to Daniel and Dora Campos. He grew up in Brownfield and graduated from BHS. He was known for his easy-going nature and friendly disposition. He smiled and laughed a lot and loved everyone. He loved music and cooking, and liked low-rider cars. He worked as a farmer and a correctional officer. Jeremy was sweet and kind and his family and friends will miss him very much! He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfredo and Isabelle Gamez; an uncle, Alfredo Gamez, Jr.; and an aunt, Ester Alvarado. Jeremy is survived by his parents, Daniel and Dora Campos; a brother, James Reyna and wife, Elaine; a sister, Janet Reyna; 2 daughters, Monika and Mia Reyna; son, Jacob Reyna and step-son, Isaiah Kohler.

Daniel Perez

Mr. Daniel Perez passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children on Sunday July 19, 2020 at his residence in Lubbock. He was born on May 23, 1939 in Hearn, Tx to the late Jessie and Juanita Perez. Daniel attended school in Meadow, Tx. Daniel married the love of his life Lola Ritz on November 19, 1955 in Meadow. They were married 64 years. Over the years Daniel worked as a bluecollar worker and was a handy man of many trades. Daniel professed his faith in Christ and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Brownfield. Daniel loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending time with family and his children. He enjoyed taking trips and was a giver. He would help anyone he could and never met a stranger. He is preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Juanita, brothers, David and Benny Perez. Daniel is survived by his lovely wife of 64 years and 8 months, 2 daughters; Janie Benton of Brownfield, Gloria Quintanilla (Rocky) of Wolfforth, 2 sons; Daniel Perez (Elisha), Johnny Joe Perez (Patty), 4 sisters; Sarah Cruz, Susan Robles (Roy), Patsy Ruiz, Mary Ruiz (Eusebio). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held Wednesday July 22, 2020 4-8 p.m. in the chapel of Grace Funeral Care 1211 Lubbock Road Brownfield. Funeral service will be Thursday July 23, 2020 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Carter officiating. He will be laid to rest in Meadow Cemetery.
