Nita Fay Clare Martin

Nita Fay Clare Martin was born to John Brit Clare Sr. and Nina Lee Wells Clare on February 7, 1950 in Brownfield, Texas. Nita went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated Brownfield High School in 1969 and attended Midland College. She attended Christian Life Assembly of God where she was a member for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Clare and Nina Lee Clare; two sisters, Wanda Lee Clare and Emily Darlene Clare Charters; one brother, John B. Clare Jr. Nita is survived by one sister, Jerry Dean Clare Day of Lubbock; one brother, Gary Dane and Reta Clare of Brownfield and many nieces and nephews. There will be a public viewing from 2:00- 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021. A private family graveside service at Terry County Memorial Cemetery.

Lady Cubs hold off Lady Raiders

The Brownfield girls’ basketball team returned to the court on Tuesday afternoon following the Christmas break with a road trip. With only three non district games left on their schedule the Lady Cubs faced off with Class 5A opponent Randall. The last time the Lady Cubs faced off with a Class 5A opponent, they lost their only game of the season.

CUBS FALL ON THE ROAD

The Brownfield boys’ basketball team returned to the hardwood after Christmas break with a road trip to Class 5A Randall. The Cubs went to Randall on a five game winning streak and looked to continue their winning streak. The Cubs went up to Canyon but fell 85-41 to the Raiders.

The Wellman Union boys’ basketball team came off the Christmas break and went on the road to face a possible playoff opponent in Rotan on Tuesday. The Wildcats put up a fight but the home team was Abel to turn the game around a secure a 51-38 win.

Lady Broncos offense struggles in return

The Meadow girls basketball team returned to the court after the Christmas break with a road game against Class 1A opponent Borden County on Tuesday afternoon. In a game between possible Class 1A playoff matchups, the Lady Broncos fell 73-22 in a game where Meadow’s offense did not show up.

Coyotes halt Broncos

The Meadow boys’ basketball team returned to the hardwood following the Christmas break with a road game against Class 1A opponent and possible playoff matchup in Borden County. The Broncos were coming off a loss to Kress before the break, looked to come back on the right foot and with a big win over a class rival. The Broncos put up a valiant effort but fell 85-29 to the Coyotes.
