BISD introduces new teacher incentive allotment

During the last Brownfield ISD Board of Trustees meeting, Melissa Oliva introduced the Teacher Incentive Allotment spending plan and explained how it works. The program is state run and Brownfield recently sent in their application to participate in the program. The program gives extra funding to teachers who are designated as recognized, exemplary, and master. When a teacher is given one of the three designations they will also earn an incentive amount for recognized $7,300-$7,800; exemplary $14,600-$15,700; and master $26,400-$28,000. This is given in one sum and not added to the teacher’s salary. The program does have some rules and teachers can only earn that allotment if they stay at the school until after the winter class roster verification. If a teacher leaves before then they do not receive the allotment, and if they leave after they will earn their allotment from the school they were at where they earned their designation.
