Lady Cubs hold volleyball camp

Lady Cubs hold volleyball camp-------Brownfield volleyball held its three day camp for girls who wanted to learn the basics of volleyball. Lady Cubs head coach Mallorie Ellis hosted the camp working with girls from all ages, teaching them the basics such as setting, passing, and serving. She was accompanied by her assistant coach and players, such as Tia and Deja Johnson who helped work with the 12 girls who signed up and were eager to learn.

Cubs baseball camp teaches kids the basics--------Brownfield baseball camp began on Wednesday, June 16 and ran through Friday, June 18 for second to fifth graders at 9 a.m. and sixth to eighth graders at 10 a.m. The camp had 12 in the first group and 22 in the second group. The kids were taught by Brownfield baseball head coach Eric Morin and assistant coach Woods.

A two vehicle collision

A two vehicle collision occurred Friday afternoon between a Toyota RAV4 and a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck on U.S. 137 southbound intersection. Neither driver was injured or taken by ambulance, and both vehicles were towed. Brownfield police and fire department were on the scene directing traffic. The collision is currently under investigation according to Police Chief Tony Serbantez.

The water mainline

The water mainline on 3rd St and Powell was found to have a leak that caused low to no pressure for citizens in the area at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 13. The mainline has been fixed but had not yet been backfilled on Monday, June 14 according to Jim Nix, Director of Water Department. He added the leak was not from the winter cold but due to age and strain on an old pipe.

City Hall and the fire and police departments’ parking lots

City Hall and the fire and police departments’ parking lots were seal coated on Thursday, June 10 and Friday, June 11. The workers not only added a new coat of pavement but redid the markings for parking space and handicap parking. After the pavement and markings were finished the workers swept all the dirt off the parking lot.
