BISD school board meeting

Brownfield Independent School District had many important people to recognize at the end of the school year. The Colonial Heights Student of the month was Pre-K student Liam Rivera. The Colonial Height Employee of the month was Brownfield local, Priscilla Rodriguez. The Oak Grove employee of the month was the hard working full time sub, Bianca Gamez. The BMS employee of the month was Breanne McCleskey for her “leadership” and ,“she does a great job building relationships with parents and students.” The BHS employee of the month was Mary Lou Jackson. She was born in the Philippines, but now she works in Brownfield. Her department chair said she was, “sweet and kind, but also holds people accountable.”

THE MEADOW CEMETARY ASSOSIATION will hold its annual Memorial Day Service at 10:30am on Monday May 30th 2022 at the Meadow Cemetary. Following the servicea catered lunch by Danny’s Catering will be served at the Meadow Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Donations for the cost of the meal are appreciated.

Our Man on the Border

Controversial changes are coming to the United States Border Policy. The change will be monumental and redefine the current state of our southern border. Brownfield News and Brownfieldonline.com are sending reporter Justin Pollock to cover the situation first hand. Title 42 is set to end May 23rd. Title 42 is a public health policy that allowed migrants to be expelled from the country because of Covid 19 health concerns. When that policy is removed migrants will have greater access to the United States. The Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas is expecting as many as 18,000 migrants to cross the southern border per day once the policy is lifted. Members of Brownfield Middle School and High School band collaborated in one final performace of the school year Thursday night. The Brownfield ISD Band Spectacular was held in the Brownfield Middle School gym and highlighted the talent of all BISD bands to those who attended.
