Tournament pool play

A lot of pitches were thrown on opening game day of the Babe Ruth Regional softball tournament. 4 Brownfield teams were thrilled to be part of the Babe Ruth Regional tournament. Starting the morning off right with the 8U team on full display. The Lady Cub 8U team faced off against Seminole in the first game of pool play for the Brownfield teams.

LaDeane Brown

The family of LaDeane Brown will celebrate her life of 86 years at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Trinity Church Chapel. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 PM to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on Sunday, July 3, 2022. We also ask that you consider viewing her Life Tribute, a video of photographs set to her favorite music. On December 24, 1935, Iva LaDeane was born to Everett and Lenora Jordan in Ada, OK. She married her childhood sweetheart Bennie on May 24, 1952 at Brownfield, Texas, They would have celebrated their 70 th wedding anniversary this year. LaDeane attended school at Meadow and Ropes School Districts. Bennie started his farming career in the Tokio area in 1957 with LaDeane by his side. In 1959, with 3 small children, they moved to the Brownfield area. There Bennie continued farming and LaDeane took care of the home while working the large vegetable garden and canning the bounty. Often she took homecooked meals out to the farm during harvesting season so the men could keep working into the night.

USDA Has Issued More Than $4 Billion in Emergency Relief Program Payments to Date

MINBURN, Iowa, June 29, 2022 – Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that to date, agricultural producers have already received more than $4 billion through the Emergency Relief Program (ERP), representing approximately 67% of the more than $6 billion projected to be paid through this first phase of the program. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) mailed out pre-filled applications in late May to producers with crop insurance who suffered losses due to natural disasters in 2020 and 2021. Commodity and specialty crop producers have until July 22 to complete applications.

Softball tournament sparks community

This softball tournament brings more than just a sport being played in Brownfield. The community comes together to show support for the The Babe Ruth Regional Softball Tournament. Many members of the community including Katy Jane Seaton, coowner of Farmhouse Vineyards and Whitehouse Parker, United and BIDCORP has contributed to making this event as big as it could be.
