Crowley Heads to State

Senior Blake Crowley of Wellman-Union ISD will be heading back to state to compete in the Texas High School Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) on April 24th - 25th in San Marcos, Texas. This is Crowley's third time in as many years to go to state. Crowley showed off his art skills at the regional VASE competition at Plainview High School and advanced to state with his art piece entitled “Identity Crisis”. “This art piece demonstrates when somebody over thinks a situation, when you don’t need to.” said Crowley, who used all acrylic paints on a stretched canvas for his art piece.

Tennis Heads Back To State

The Brownfield Cubs and Lady Cubs Tennis Teams head back to the Texas Tennis Coaches Association (TTCA) State Tournament on March 6th & 7th in San Antonio. This will be the second year in a row that Coach Rich Hammons has helped guide his Tennis Teams to the TTCA State Tournament. Hammons said, “This is always good for us, it helps of course with the upcoming UIL tennis season.”

TXDOT to improve sidewalks

According to the Texas Department of Transportation website, in the next 10 years the state expects to spend $92.7 million on state and US highways in Terry County, plus new sidewalk improvements. This week, TXDOT has begun the new sidewalk project that will replace the sidewalks, not roads. The project will begin from Cedar Street to US 62 (Lubbock Rd.) on both north and south sides of US 380 (Tahoka Rd.) The project will then switch over to Main St. (US 380) From US 62 (1st St. to 7th St.) also on both north and south sides of Main St.
