The Brownfield boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were scheduled to play Greenwood High on Thursday, Dec. 31 in its final game of the year. On Wednesday, Dec. 30, the Brownfield ISD released on their Facebook page that the games were canceled due to “expected snow accumulations and freezing temperatures”.

Eudelia Gonzalez

Eudelia was born to Catarino Gonzalez Sr. and Maria Cantu Gonzalez in Rock Springs, Texas. She was a loving person that helped raise everyone’s children. She never had children but was like a mother to everyone. Eudelia was a member of St. Anthony Catholic church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Catarino Gonzalez, Sr. and Maria Cantu Gonzalez. She is also preceded by 8 brothers and sisters, Catarino Gonzalez, Jr., Ernesto Gonzalez, Lionel Gonzalez, Amadeo Gonzalez, Amelia Charles, Estella Trevino, Lidia Almuina, and Maria De Jesus Munoz. Eudelia is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Estevean Gonzalez and wife, Linda, of Lubbock, Elva Davila and husband, Santiago, of Meadow, Alberto Gonzalez of Houston, Ricardo Avila of Seguin, Brenda Gonzalez of Brownfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Michael Wayne Scott

Michael Wayne Scott, 60, was called home to the Lord on Dec. 27, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brownfield, Texas, to J.W. (Bozo) Scott and Cynthia Stephens. A loving and supportive father, grandfather, husband, brother, son and friend, Michael was a rock to those he loved. His quick wit, sharp humor and indelible charm could bring laughter and joy to any occasion. Michael is survived by his wife of 36 years, Rhonda Scott; his two children, Brian Scott and wife Krista, and Kimberly Welch and husband Tim; three grandchildren, Kynzie, Bryce and Bowen; his mother, Cynthia Scott; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 31, with viewing 3-5 p.m. Dec. 30 at Brownfield Funeral Home, 120 W. Tate St. in Brownfield, Texas.
