~Unchanging Purpose ~

It's my birthday week and I adopted this birthday scripture a few years ago: 'Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come' (Psalms 71:18).

Lady Cubs season comes to an end losing to Crane 57-49

The Brownfield Lady Cubs basketball season came to an end as they lost 5749 to the Crane Lady Birds in the Bi-District round of the Texas High School Playoffs. Brownfield entered as the three seed in this game coming to that decision after being in a tie for second place with Muleshoe. Brownfield hit the road to Colorado City where things were off to a fast start for both schools by the end of the first quarter Brownfield trailed 14-10. Brownfield went out on a 7-0 run fueled by Crane turnovers to take a 17-14 lead early in the second quarter. Brownfield would continue to force Crane into turnovers and made them pay, going into the locker room up 29-23. Out of the break it was Cranes turn to go on a run of their own as they went on a 7-0 run to take a 30-29 lead very early in the third quarter. Kaylynn Fininen would end the run with a bucket to tie the game at 31. From this point on in the third quarter things were very back and forth as there were four ties in the quarter with both teams just trading buckets. Towards the end of the third Fininen made her presence felt again going on a mini 4-0 run to give the Lady Cubs a 39-37 lead. Brownfield had an opportunity to add to that lead at in the waning seconds of the third but a turnover and a subsequent foul while Crane was in the act of shooting cost Brownfield three points and the lead as they now trailed 40-39. It was another back-and-forth frame filled with intensity as both teams exchanged buckets and leads combining for 4 lead changes and 3 ties in the fourth. But ultimately it was the Crane Lady Birds who strung together enough stops and timely shots to edge out the Brownfield Lady Cubs in the end, sending the Lady Cubs with a 57-49 loss for their final game of the season. Crane advances to the Area round of the playoffs where they will take on Bushland.
