The New Home Lady Leopards came into this matchup ranked #1 in the state of Texas for class 2A and showcased why Tuesday night. To start the game New Home would go on a 8-2 run to start the game when Brownfield would use a timeout. Out of the time out Amery Pauda would hit a much needed three to keep the Lady Cubs within striking distance.

It was a slow start to the game for both teams as neither team could get a shot to fall, or they would turn the ball over early in a possession. But with 5:45 left in the New Home would get on the board first. But Brownfield would not let things come easy for New Home as they utilized their press to force turnovers and wreaked havoc in the halfcourt not letting New Home getting into their sets, Brownfield outscored New Home 13-4 at the end of the first quarter.
