The Brownfield City Council met Thursday morning for their regularly scheduled meeting to discuss several items on the agenda. Council members Kelli Mendez, Celso Duran, Leon Pope, Marshall Martell, Mark Williams and Jimmy Garza were all present on the quorum, along with City Manager Jeff Davis, City Secretary Kelly Burris, City Attorney Matt Wade and Mayor Tom Hesse. J.C. Tijerina was absent from the meeting.

Lady Broncos earn comeback victory with second-half rally

The Meadow girl’s basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to catch, pass and finally defeat Springlake-Earth, 53-48, in a nondistrict game Tuesday at Meadow. K’Lynn Tarin scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Lady Broncos, with Ciara Villapando adding 11 in the victory. Tatum Goodman had 18 points for Springlake-Earth, with Emma Samaron finishing with 11 in the loss. Springlake-Earth held the lead, 39-30, after three quarters, then watched Meadow dominate the final eight minutes (23-8) to earn the comeback victory.
