Average gasoline prices in Texas have risen 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.65/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. Prices in Texas are 2.1 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 36.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 2.1 cents in the last week and stands at $3.87 per gallon.

Read moreMemorial Services for Augustine Ochoa Ortiz, 79, of Yorktown was held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Brownfield Funeral Home. Augustine passed away on January 19, 2024, in Meadow. He was born on December 1, 1944, in Yorktown. Augustine was a hardworking farm and ranch hand, steadfast husband, and father. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to various roles, including farming, ranching, and oil field work. In his free time, Augustine enjoyed playing softball and was an avid fisherman and hunter. His love for these activities brought him joy and allowed him to connect with his family and lifelong friends. Augustine is survived by his loving wife, Erlinda, sons Bobby Joe and wife Lee Anne Ortiz of Austin, daughter Loretta and husband Arthur Latus of Eufaula, Ok, son Eddie Ortiz and wife Lori of Greeley, Co, sister Teresa Villanueva of Victoria and his sister, Louisa Ortiz of Yorktown. Grandchildren: Zavanah Ortiz and BJ Ortiz of Austin, Jordan Leipprandt of Clovis, New Mexico, and Connor Latus of Tulsa, Ok. Great-granddaughter, Blair Azazel Ortiz of Columbia, La. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Soila Ortiz of Yorktown, his siblings, Mike Ortiz of Levelland, Yolanda Bell of Bastrop and Martin Castillo of Westoff. Augustine Ochoa Ortiz will be remembered as a hard-working individual who dedicated his life to his family. His legacy will live on through the memories and stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
