Funeral services for Raymond Sanchez Gonzales was held 10 am Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerald Leatham officiating. Burial followed in the Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home. A family visitation was held Saturday and Sunday, July 13 and 14, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm at Brownfield Funeral Home. A Rosary was held Monday, July 15, 2019 at Brownfield Funeral Home starting at 6pm. Raymond passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 in Brownfield. He was born in Frankfort, Michigan on August 6, 1947. He was the first child born to Gonzalo and Emma Gonzales. Raymond has five brothers, Gonzalo, Joe, Ricky, Robert, Raul and two sisters Paula Acosta and Rebecca Gonzales. Raymond has lived in Brownfield since 1948 and went to school at Brownfield until he was drafted into the United States Army on April 13, 1966 and served until April 12, 1969 in the Vietnam War. Raymond then met Maria Elena Cantu and they were married for 50 years. Soon their son Mark and their daughter Jona joined the rest of their siblings, Pete, Cynthia, and Teresa. Raymond worked for Gibsons before he joined Amoco where he retired after 29 years. Raymond is survived by his wife, Maria Elena; his children, Mark Gonzales and wife Gloria, of Lubbock, Jona Rolan and husband, Clay of Canyon, Pete Garza and wife, Angie of Brownfield, Cynthia Tealer and husband, Eddie of Brownfield, Teresa Flores and husband, Valdie of Lubbock; grandchildren, Abrian and Zarin Gonzales, Madison and Brody Rolan, Latisha Tealer, Eric Garza, Tara Garza, Rocky Garza, Kasandra Tealer, Leslie Flores. Raymond was blessed with numerous great grandchildren, Nina, Malachi, Abcde, Lotan, Ethan, Bubba, Deelylah, Kayleigh, Ryan, Adrian, Shacolby, Kiera, Jaslyn, Kassidy, Nikoli, Bobby, and Jordan. He is also survived by his sisters, Paula Acosta, Rebecca Gonzales and brothers, Ricky Gonzales, Gonzalo and Raul Gonzales.
