November 24, 1951- July 20, 2019
Funeral services for Mary Lou Harvill were at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at Primera Iglesia Bautista with Daniel Bernal officiating. Visitation was 6:00 pm — 8:00 pm Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Prim-era Iglesia Bautista of Brownfield at 201 N. 5th Street. Mary Lou, 67, of Brownfield, was born November 24, 1951, to Mariana H. Garcia. She was a dedicated and loving daughter through her mother’s life. She took great care of her mom until her passing in 1996. Mary Lou was an only child, but she grew up with many cousins who were more like siblings. This was especially evident in the special bond she shared with Rachel Prieto. She never considered her as anything other than her sister as they stood by each other’s side throughout the years, supporting and loving each other through good times and bad as only family can. Mary Lou grew up in Brownfield and graduated from Brownfield High School. She attended college in Canyon where she studied business. This led her career path to the Brownfield District Attorney’s office as a legal secretary where she worked for many years. In 1974, she married Eugene Harvill of Brownfield. During their marriage they were blessed with three children, Maria, Malizza and Moises. Mary Lou encouraged her children’s talents and abilities through her endless support in all their sports and activities from Little Dribblers to state marching band competitions. Mary Lou could always be found in the middle of the stands at Cub Stadium on Friday nights or cheering for the Lady Cubs basketball and volleyball teams in Brownfield High’s gyms. Mary Lou’s endless love and devotion continued to grow with the arrival of each of her grandchildren - Jordyn, Mariana, Ashley, Hailey, Skylan and Caleb, and also with her great grandson, Jayden. She was a proud Nana who continued to attend many of their birthdays or extracurricular events up until her death. Mary Lou passed away Saturday, July 20. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Eugene; her oldest daughter, Maria Cantrell and husband Jamey of Rowlett and their two children: Mariana, Jordyn and his son Jayden; youngest daughter, Malizza Miller and husband Chad of Lubbock and their four children: Ashley, Hailey, Skylan and Caleb; and her daughter-in-law, Tracie of Houston. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Moses and Candelaria Garcia, her mother, Mariana H. Garcia, and her son, Moises LukeHarvill. She was surely greeted and reunited with all of them in Heaven Saturday evening.
