It’s often said that basketball is a game of runs, and Tuesday proved to be just that. Brownfield came out the gates red hot on an 8-0 run, but Kermit answered with a 130 run. By the end of the first quarter, the game was tied at 13. In the second quarter, both teams would go back and forth exchanging buckets, Brownfield had to earn a lot of their looks with Kermit running a 2-3 zone forcing the Brownfield offense to be patient. Later in the quarter Brownfield began to use their full-court pressure to create turnovers and easy opportunities in transition, which paid off and allowed them to take a 30-23 lead into the locker room. Out of the halftime break, Kermit came out hot, going on an 8-0 and reclaiming the lead 31-30. But from that point on, Brownfield would outscore Kermit 2012 to take a 50-43 lead into the final quarter of play. Despite Kermit’s best efforts trying to make a last-minute run back into the game, Brownfield did a great job holding the door shut to leave with the 69-64 win. Brownfield advances to the Area round of the playoffs, where they will meet the #3 Shallowater Mustangs.
