Read moreA 51-year-old Brownfield man, Carl James Edgar, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing child pornography. He was previously sentenced to 30 years in the 121st District Court in Terry County in December 2019 for continuous sexual abuse of a child who was younger than 14. Both sentences will run concurrently.
Read moreOn Monday at approximately 4:15 p.m. Brownfield Fire & Rescue was called out to an auto accident at the intersection of US 62/82 and David Bailey Rd. on the east side of the highway. According to TxDPS, Rusty Powell of Brownfield was driving a dark colored 2016 four door GMC 2500 Sierra pulling a trailer south on US 62/82 and began to turn east on to David Bailey Rd. As Powell began to drive across the northbound lanes of US 62/82 a maroon Nissan Altima driven by Rocky McDonald (18) of Carlsbad, NM was driving north on US 62/82 and collided with the back portion of the truck and front portion of the trailer Powell was driving. McDonald was treated at the scene for unknown injuries and released. Powell and a passenger with McDonald were not injured.
