Terry County Visitation Plan Covid-19 We have implemented a plan to start visitation for the public and the inmates. We have set up a plan to have visitation on scheduled days and scheduled times for each individual pod. We have also set up a 20- minute timeframe between visitations, where jail staff is able to have sufficient time to disinfect the area. We have this plan in place to help limit the number of people allowed at one time. We have shut down phones in-between each other to allow the 6 feet of social distancing.

Passover: Passover celebrates the story of the Israelites’ redemption and escape from Egypt and 400 years of slavery. The story of the passover can read in the Torah and the Bible, and is associated with Moses and the 10 plagues. Passover is celebrated for seven days in Israel and in North America, but some Israelites not located in either place celebrate for eight days. The eight day celebration is because they used mountaintop bonfires to signal the beginning of passover, and this allowed those Israelites to celebrate properly if there was an error in the bonfires. Originally, Passover, which incorporated remnants of ancient spring harvest festivals, was celebrated through a pilgrimage to Jerusalem to take sacrifices to the temple. After the destruction of the temple and the second temple, Passover was celebrated in a more communal, home centered tradition. The use of the Haggadah and seder began in 500-600 C.E., and is still used today.

There was a double house fire in the 500 block of East Broadway on Tuesday, March 16. The fire started in the backyard of one house and caught the fence separating the two houses on fire.
