Read moreWith the Terry County General Elections held Saturday, May 1 the Brownfield City Council had two at large, District 4, and District 5 seats with only the District 5 seat having to go to an election. Following the election results, City Secretary Kelly Burris administered the oath of office to newly elected City Council member Micheal Tackitt followed by the three incumbents Michelle Cooper for District 4, Eric Horton for District 5, and Isaiah Bautista for one of the at large seats. Before Tackitt could take his seat on the council, Mayor Tom Hesse gave a plaque to outgoing councilmember Chuck Nave. With the new city council in place, the first order of business was to elect a Mayor Pro-Tem. Hesse explained the Mayor Pro-Tem is essentially the acting mayor whenever he is not in town or available and in council meetings should sit to his right, the council elected Judy Bessler as Mayor Pro-Tem.
