Read moreThe air is going to be filled with the amazing smell of barbeque. The Great American Barbeque Cookoff is coming to Brownfield once again, this Saturday! The contest will be held at Coleman Park, and it is hosted by the Brownfield Knights of Columbus in tandem with the International Barbeque Cookers Association. Justin Hesse, a Knights of Columbus member, and proud organizer of the event said, “it will look like the park is on fire,” as an astonishing 40 barbeque masters arrive and light their pits. The barbecue masters will then give their all to win the fame, glory, and money that comes with being named the champ. The contest is based on a point system, and the top qualifiers can move on to compete in the national barbeque competition.

So the rising gas prices, he says, hit his fixed monthly income hard. At the pump he showed that he wasn’t filling up his truck, he was putting just enough in the tank to get to Lubbock. When asked what adjustments he was making in his life he answered, “I just don’t go anywhere anymore.” With the rising gas prices people everywhere are having to cut back on their driving, and in some cases eliminate what would have been a fun life experience. Like last week, when a family told the Brownfield News that they canceled a family vacation they had been planning since last year because of the high gas prices.
