Justin Hesse was added to the board at Brownfield Regional Medical Center at their monthly meeting on Monday, October 17. Hesse was appointed to the board to fill an unexpired term and will serve until May of 2023.
Read moreOn Saturday, October 15, 2022, the Brownfield Volunteer Firemen attended the Fall Convention for the Permian Basin District Firefighter’s Association Convention in Seminole, Texas. The three Volunteers were Aaron Cox, Taylor Salazar, and Oren Chambers. The convention includes a meeting of all attending departments in the morning, races in the afternoon and a meal and dance in the evening. With a little nudging, the Brownfield Volunteers entered in the races. They ended up winning with five trophies. The Brownfield team received 1st in the Men’s Pumper Race and 2nd in the men’s six-man Hose Race, the two- man hose race, and the Men’s Special Race. They also received the All- Around Trophy.

Read moreBrownfield Industrial Development Corporation heard presentations from three local businesses during its regular meeting on Monday. JAE’s Froyo, Crackin’ Crab and EJM Construction each spoke to the board to request assistance in order to meet growth goals. After meeting in closed session, BIDCorp Executive Director Gina Kelly made a motion to have JAE’s Froyo apply for a grant, which the board passed. The board approved up to $33,250 to be paid to the vendor once the work is completed for the Crakin’ Crab’s parking lot. A motion was also made and approved to pay the vendor up to $65,000 for the concrete work for a building expansion for EJM Construction. The board gave its approval for Kelly to sell property to interested investors.
