Council Discusses Pool Opening; Renews Curfew Ordinance

Following the approval of April’s minutes and the audit of the city’s financial records by CPA Eddy Holloway, the Brownfield City Council voted to extend the declaration of local disaster-Mayoral Order No.2. issued by Mayor Gonzales on April 30. The order was designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the city of Brownfield, and the council was required to extend, renew, amend, or cancel the declaration and ratify it within seven days of issuance.

Hair Salons, Gyms and Graduations Are A Go

Texas Governor Gregg Abbott shocked the state when he held a press conference on Tuesday, May 5 to announce the reopening of hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, tanning salons and gyms . Also during the announcement, Gov. Abbott said high school graduations can take place outdoors. Gov. Abbott was set to have a press conference on Monday, May 11 to address the reopening of those businesses that did not get the okay in his last press conference.
