State Senator Kelly Hancock of Tarrant County and State Representative Jeff Leach of Collin County filed SJR 27 and HJR 72. The two bills are known as the “Texas Essential Church Act”, which looks to amend the Texas Constitution by making all Texas churches essential businesses.

Terry County Youth Sports opening ceremony this weekend

Terry County Youth Sports was unable to get its inaugural season started with basketball due to COVID, but it will have its inaugural season with baseball and softball. Before the very first game is played under the Terry County Youth Sports banner, the president and board members will be holding an opening ceremony on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Brownfield Sports Complex on the Red Field.

Cubs comeback falls short against Lamesa

The Brownfield baseball team hosted Lamesa in its district home opener on Friday, April 2 in what was a bizarre situation. The Cubs found themselves trailing 13-3 at the bottom of the seventh inning and staged an exciting comeback that tied the game at 13-13. Lamesa went on to score six runs in the top of the eighth to hand the Cubs a 19-13 loss.

Lady Cubs lose battle of unbeaten teams

The Brownfield softball (3-1) team hosted Lamesa in a battle for first place in District 3-3A as each team came in with a perfect 3-0 record in district. The Lady Cubs jumped out to an early 4-1 lead but could not hold off the Lady Tornadoes as they went on to defeat Brownfield 9-5.
