Lester & Murry Engagement

Max and Rita Murry of Brownfield, Amy Lester of Abernathy and Kevin Lester of Surprise, AZ announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children Morgan Bailee Murry and Zachary Layne Lester. Grandparents are Pauline Murry and the late Ralph Murry of Brownfield, Mary Yarbrough of Wolfforth (formerly of Brownfield) and the late Bailey Yarbrough, and Kay Rainwater of Surprise, AZ. Murry is a 2012 graduate of Brownfield High School, 2015 graduate of McMurry University with a Bachelors in Education, 2019 graduate of Angelo State University with a Masters in School Counselors. She is currently District Counselor for Ralls ISD. Lester is a 2013 graduate of Abernathy High School and a 2020 graduate of Texas Tech University. He is currently employed by TriPoint Substation Services of Lubbock. Following the wedding they will make their home in Lubbock.

Meadow basketball camp opens to huge crowd

Meadow opened its basketball camp Monday and ran through Thursday with first to sixth graders going from 10 a.m. till noon, and seventh to ninth graders going from 1-3 p.m. The camp had 61 totals kids show up to the camp. The campers learned the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting, and layups from Meadow head boys’ and girls’ coaches Brandon Flores and Nick Tarr, as well as their assistants.

Brownfield tennis camp teaches kids basics of lifelong sport

Brownfield tennis camp began with the first through fifth graders participating from 9-11 a.m. and the sixth to ninth graders going from 1-3 p.m. The camp is a chance for the kids to learn the basics of the sport from head coach Rich Hammons and returning members of the District winning Cubs and Lady Cubs players. The kids learned how to control the ball with their rackets, how to stand hit the ball with a forearm, and the vocabulary of the sport.
