Graveside services for Frank Lee Condra ,88, of Ropesville will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the Ropesville Cemetery with Gabe Moudy officiating. He was in state at Brownfield Funeral Home for public viewing on Friday, September 24, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Frank passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in Plainview. He was born December 4, 1932 in Gomez to Frank (Buck) and Ella Maurine Condra. Frank graduated from Ropesville High School. He married Margorie Yvonne Charter in Lubbock on May 23, 1969. He was always known for his smile and humor. Frank never met a stranger, and never let the opportunity to joke with someone pass him by. Frank loved his grandchildren very much; they were his pride and joy. He was very proud of their accomplishments and bragged about them with every opportunity. Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Margorie Yvonne Condra, and his parents, Frank and Ella Condra. Frank is survived by his four children, Vicki Stark and husband, Chris, Debbie Condra, Carl Condra, and Tim Condra; three grandchildren Justin Stark and wife Nicole, SammiJo McLain and husband, Shane, Jessi Schur and husband, Layton; four great grandchildren, Doc, Gracie, Kylee, and Wyatt; sister, Patsy Keller; and brother, Jack Condra.

It was a game between two winless teams looking to crack their goose eggs when the Brownfield Cubs and Lake View Chiefs met at Cubs Stadium on Friday night. The game had an extra motivation as the Cubs were looking to give their head coach Aarrhon Flores his first homecoming win as the Brownfield head coach. But on the night senior Gabi Fields was crowned 2021 Homecoming Queen, the football team was shut out for the first time this season in a game marred with questionable calls and no calls by the referees against the Cubs.

Wellman-Union fell at home to Grandfalls-Royalty 49-0 in their first game under new head coach Kody Bell. The Wildcats will be on the road against Hart on Friday with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. in non-district play.

The Meadow Broncos, after struggling early in the season, were able to come away with a huge Homecoming win Friday night against the Grady Wildcats. The Broncos topped the Wildcats 52-46. After a slow moving first quarter, the two teams began an offensive battle in the second quarter that would last until the final seconds of the game. The Broncos were down early in the fourth and final quarter but were able to hold the Wildcats on a few possessions to tie the game up late in the quarter. With a little over 20 seconds remaining, the Broncos attemped an onside kick, which was recovered by the Broncos. The onside kick return put the Broncos in perfect field position, allowing for a touchdown pass to be completed with only 17 seconds left on the clock. Once the Broncos had the lead it was up to the defense to shut down the Wildcats. The Broncos defense held the Wildcats on their final possession, sealing the victory at 52-46.
