Palmer amaranth control matters – throughout life cycle

Every female Palmer amaranth plant can produce over 1 million seeds that may germinate and compete with a cotton crop.

Goodfellows sorted through mountains of toys and goodies to ready the gifts for delivery on Christmas Eve to boys and girls throughout Terry County. Sheriff Timothy Click is pictured organizing the gifts donated by hundreds of residents for the popular annual local charity.

Council hears quarterly reports, names Employee of the Month

The Brownfield City Council met for the year's final meeting on Thursday morning. The council was short two members, Michael Tackitt and Ricky Rocha were unable to attend. The council approved the minutes of the previous meeting and recognized Brownfield Sports Complex Groundskeeper Dee Doyle as the December Employee of the Month.

Elections office holds classes for candidates

The Terry County Elections office held a candidate information class on Monday and Wednesday at the annex building. The classes were not mandatory; instead, Joint Elections Administrator Krystal Valentin encouraged candidates to attend so she could explain to them the entire process of elections from early voting, ballot by mail, results, and more. The candidates could ask questions and were instructed on what they could and could not do on election day.

BRMC welcomes Interim CNO and new FNP

Brownfield Regional Medical Center's Board of Directors held a meeting on Monday to discuss and move forward with the hiring and training of Family Nurse Practitioner Cynthia Brown and announce the new interim Chief Nursing Officer, Pam Clark. Brown is a Seagraves native, an FNP for a year, and has many years of experience in the medical field. Clark has taken over as interim CNO due to the previous interim CNO, Crystal Briggs, leaving early. Clark is a Brownfield native with 42 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and over a decade as an interim CNO. The board also discussed the upcoming elections for the board of directors next year. Three members are up for reelection, Justin Hesse, Bobby Lawerence, and Sue Cottrell. Filing dates are January 19 through February 18.
