Harvest Festival shows off the best of the region

The 75th Annual Terry County Harvest Festival began with the talent show and competition last Thursday with performances by local dance groups and queen candidates. On Friday, the Ghost Dance Band provided a free concert and Brownfield hosted a classic car cruise. On Saturday, the festivities continued in Coleman Park with the car show, games, food, prizes, music and vendor booths.

After a twoweek- long battle with injuries sustained from being struck by an oncoming vehicle in a hit and run accident, Jose “ Joe” Tapia passed away on Oct. 3. Multiple surgeries were performed from the time Tapia was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock on Sept. 18. Despite the severity of his injuries, family members had remained hopeful for a recovery.
